Errors and problems

Access Windows partition

Instead of C:\path\sample.txt use /cygdrive/path/sample.txt

Create passwd file

The file cygwin/etc/passwd can be created by execute mkpasswd (in the terminal), if it is missing or damaged.

known_hosts file can't be created

The known_hosts file is created under cygwin/home/USER-NAME/.ssh. When the folder USER-NAME (your Windows user name) does not exist, the file can not be created.
